Unit Guidelines
Military personnel are limited to male participation because women were
not permitted in the army in the 1860's. A young man must be at least 16 years
old to carry a weapon. All soliders must pass the inspection and approval
of the Commanding Officer before taking the field (this is for everyone's safety).
Military personnel camp in a military period camp. Civilians camp in the civilian
camp.
Events normally commemorate a particular battle or action and may range in size
from 100 or so re-enactors and up to well over a thousand. Occasionally we
will attend a large National event with many thousand participants.
Most events run from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon and have activities
planned for both civilians and soldiers throughout the days, including one or two
battle scenarios, and a Saturday evening Ball or social event. Usually there
are sutlers (traveling merchants of the time period) at events and this is a main
source of ones equipment and clothing.
